Drone Practice in the Outer Banks of North Carolina
We’re adding a new service to our repertoire, and we’re really excited about it. Drone video will soon be a service we offer – whether to add to a client video project, or you just need some drone video. While on a recent vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we put in some practice hours with the drone.
If you’ve never been to the Outer Banks – you’ve missed out on some of the most incredible sunrises and sunsets you’ll ever see. So, we took full advantage and got the drone out to practice for six amazing sunrises and beautiful sunsets.
Here are some things we’ve learned so far:
- Droning takes time, but it’s worth it. We got to our filming location about an hour and a half before sunrise and sunset to ensure we didn’t miss a minute of the ‘good stuff’.
- Location is everything. A spot without a crowd works best, and an ocean view doesn’t hurt.
- Pack an extra battery.
- Be a smooth operator. We found practicing control of the drone from our phone required some finesse, and slow and steady made for much better more visually pleasing video.
We’re not quite ready to go live with drone video production for our clients – but give us a couple of week and we’ll be up and running.
